Studying for a Master’s degree at the Faculty of Sciences
Below you will find information on the Master’s degree programs at the Faculty of Sciences. As a rule, students complete a Master’s degree in natural sciences or mathematics with the degree Master of Science (M.Sc.). The Master of Arts (M.A.) is only awarded in Cultural Geography.
The place of study is Erlangen. Individual courses, e.g. in Industrial Mathematics, can take place in Nuremberg.
At present, consecutive Master’s courses are also offered for all Bachelor’s courses, i.e. courses that build directly on these. Some of them are taught entirely in English.
The Faculty of Sciences offers the following non-consecutive Master’s degree programs:
- GeoThermics / GeoEnergy (MSc.)
- Elite study program Integrated Immunology (MSc.)
Students can apply for these courses, e.g. from the Bachelor’s degree programs in Geosciences or Biology or from subject-related programs.
The teaching language is predominantly German in the Master’s degree programs. However, the following courses are taught in English exclusively:
- Chemistry
- Computational and Applied Mathematics
- Data Science
- Geosciences (if choosing the modules “Palaeobiology” and “Earth Systems Research Lab”)
- Elite programme of the Elite Network of Bavaria: Integrated Immunology
- Integrated Life Sciences – Biology, Biomathematics, Biophysics
